My setup
So you may have noticed I have been a little cagey about mentioning the application I am using to self host my blog, even though my firewall has been tightened down, with my Flint 2 running a vanilla install of OpenWRT and most of the ports I use for things are non standard with crowdsec doing its thing, I was unsure if there where any weak points in the software after doing some things to harden it on my end and researching the software online I am confident to say I am using Ghost and admit that it has not only been visible as local host but it has been visible at blog.reannsthrowaway.ca.
The reannsthrowaway.ca domain is what I am using to test things out in my self hosting journey. HostHero who I would no longer suggest to people even if you had the money, they currently host reannlegge.ca, I respect myself and no longer have the money so I intend to move to easyDNS so that I can self host my domain and do the same setup I had with HostHero, separate emails for everything to act as the ultimate junk mail filter, but done slightly different. I am thinking of keeping the throwaway domain after I move my more professional domain just so I can screw around with new tools and applications I may come across in the future. There always seems to be something new I want to add to my home lab that needs ssl certificates. I do not need to add new A records into easyDNS but I do need to add new ones into Caddyfile, so things can use ssl on my LAN because somethings do not like plain old http.
