So busy with my home lab
I have been wanting to talk about my homelab on my blog for the past two days but I have been so busy with it. Originally I wanted to talk about things because I have been so busy trying to get things done but I finally got this one project done “ish.” My original plan was to move all my media stuff to an old Mac Mini but the OS is so out of date and the newest one that I could install is no longer on the app store so I was going to try and install Debian, but Debian was a no go for some reason. However iTunes still works so I downloaded all my music and brought it over to my media pi because having an out of date unsecured device on my homelab vLAN is not the best option to have seeing as how much I have riding the waves and through the tubes.
The project I have done over the past 2 days was get most of my music on to my homelab and into navidrome, I say most because I guess buying is not owning even after Apple has said they removed DRM from all of the music I purchased I guess all did not mean all it just meant most. I am glad they also looked at all the music I had in the past and either uploaded it or replaced it with the lossless Apple files. I moved all my audio to my media pi and then into Navidrome but there was so many things not organized correctly, so I had to find a docker image of MusicBrainz Picard. It reorganized my music with new tags or additional tags or different tags.
After Picard fixed the tags Navidrome was far more organized but I could still not get any of these amazing features done, so more reading needed to be done. The reading happened and I found out additional tags needed to be added by AudioMuze-AI, to do these extra fun things. So my media pi has been busy listening to my music to sort it more, why it is not sampling it and than searching the net I do not know but again maybe it is? By the looks of it it may take a day or two to do all the work, hopefully after that I will be able to do all the fun stuff I am looking forward to.
After it is all sorted out I plan on finding out how to then do things with Home Assistant, maybe I will also be able to find an old phone to turn into an alarm clock with my music and a HA kiosk.
